A rather dull day today. Clare went off to her study group after breakfast, and I went to the Post Office to post a couple of foreign letters and had to queue for a quarter of an hour before getting served. It was like this last time I posted something. So many different services are now offered in the one rather small place with three staff, including banking services and stationary sales. It's always busy, the staff work very hard. I don't know how they cope.
I did the week's grocery shop at the Coop, then went in search of a one Amp fuse for the shaver plug to mains adaptor, as I have one without one. I ended up buying a new adaptor for two quid instead.
It's annoying that electric shavers have a specialised plug, not compatible with UK power sockets, unless you have a special one built into your bathrom cabinet. You'd think an adaptor would come with an adaptor in the box, but no. And there's not even a warning on the box or shelf to say that you need one.
On my way to the hardware shop, I passed a clothes shop and remembered I needed more underpants, so I popped in and bought a pack of three, brightly coloured ones, for a change. Then I returned home to cook lunch in time for Clare's arrival at one o'clock.
I had a siesta in the armchair afterwards, then went into town and back on the bus. I took a few more photos of the city centre Central Square redevelopment project's final phase.
Now that the construction site has been handed over to owners for the completion of the interior and preparations for opening the new main bus station, the external site boundary fence has been removed, revealing the actual footprint of the buildings and their relationship to the public realm, with a couple of flower beds and seating. It's more open than I feared it might be, revealing Cardiff Central Station the other side of Central Square in the background.
It's not so easy to portray in a single photo due to the layout of the entire complex of buildings. I think I'll visit with a wide angled lens camera and do a video walk around, once I've figured out an optimum route.
I wandered around the shops with no particular aim, apart from looking for special offers, and ended up buying a new pair of trousers which I needed at a bargain price. Clare had already left for her meditation group by the time I arrived home. After eating supper, I settled down to watch another couple of episodes of 'Crimson Rivers' with another convoluted melodramatic plot. I persist only to listen to the dialogue in French and see how much I can understand.
